The Works of Augustus Toplady
Volume 3
By Augustus Toplady.
Augustus Toplady was a Calvinist.
He strongly adhered to the theological teachings of John Calvin, a 16th-century Protestant theologian, and was a defender of Reformed theology.
In fact, Toplady wrote a book titled “The Historic Proof of the Doctrinal Calvinism of the Church of England,” in which he argued that the Church of England was fundamentally Calvinist in its theology. He also wrote several hymns that reflect his Calvinist beliefs, including “Rock of Ages” which expresses the Calvinist doctrine of salvation by grace alone.
