Ten Sermons
By John Kershaw, rev of Rochdale.
About the Author:
John Kershaw was a nonconformist minister who lived in the early 19th century in Rochdale, England. He was born on January 3, 1792, and grew up in a religious household. He became interested in religion at a young age and began attending the local Methodist chapel.
In 1813, Kershaw became a member of the Independent church in Rochdale and began studying for the ministry. He was ordained in 1816 and served as a minister in various nonconformist churches throughout his life.
Kershaw was known for his piety and devotion to religion, and his memoir, “Memoirs of the Life of the Rev. John Kershaw, of Rochdale,” which was published posthumously in 1836, provides insights into his religious beliefs and practices.
The memoir is a compilation of Kershaw’s personal writings, including letters and journals, as well as recollections from family and friends. It covers his life from childhood to his death in 1840, and provides a glimpse into the religious and social milieu of the early 19th century in England.
Overall, the memoir presents John Kershaw as a devout and humble man who dedicated his life to God and to serving his community through his ministry.
